Dropbox is platform-agnostic, making it easier to collaborate on Microsoft, Adobe, video, and other professional file types — especially with partners outside your organization and it can be faster for real work at scale (e.g., 71% faster uploads for folders with 10,000 files*). vs Microsoft OneDrive ### Clear collaboration — without the complexity OneDrive spreads work across multiple Microsoft tools, which can make collaboration harder to follow, especially with external partners. Dropbox gives teams a single, clear place to work, with fast syncing and built-in tools for reviewing, sharing, and managing files across devices — including performance advantages like 21x faster uploads of large folders*. *with 10,000 1 KB files vs Box ### Powerful collaboration, designed to scale with teams Box is optimized for highly regulated, large-enterprise environments with extensive configuration needs. Dropbox is designed to scale from small teams to large organizations, combining strong security with fast performance and simpler collaboration — especially when work spans internal teams and external partners — with reported performance wins like 95% faster end-to-end sync across devices*. *on 25 MB files *based on a 2023 Principled Technologies study sponsored by Dropbox Choose your billing cycle Billed monthly Billed yearly PlusStandardAdvanced PlusStandardAdvanced A table comparing the different Dropbox plans Plan name | Plus | Best Value Standard | Advanced | Price | $9.99 / month | $15 / user / month | $24 / user / month | Billing structure | | | | Link for getting started | Buy now | Try for free or buy now | Try for free or buy now | Dropbox core features | Users | For 1 person | For 1 person or more | For 3 people or more | Storage | 2,000 GB of storage | Starts at 3,000 GB for the team | Starts at 15,000 GB for the team | Best-in-class sync technology | | | | Easy and secure sharing | | | | Anytime, anywhere access | | | | Connect unlimited devices | | | | 256-bit AES and SSL/TLS encryption | | | | Content and accident protection | Backup | | | | Account recovery and version history | 30-day history | 180-day history | 1-year history | Restore deleted files | 30-day history | 180-day history | 1-year history | Multi-factor authentication | | | | Document scanning | | | | Remote device wipe | | | | Watermarking | - | | | Account transfer tool | - | | | Granular permissions | - | | | Enable HIPAA compliance | - | | | Device approvals | - | | | Data classification | - | - | | Ransomware detection and recovery | - | - | | Suspicious activity alerts | - | - | | End-to-end encryption | - | - | | Advanced Key Management | - | - | | Video tools | Video transcripts and closed captions | | | | Video editing | | | | Video commenting | - | | | Creative review and approvals with Dropbox Replay | 4 file uploads, live review, versions, and video collaboration | 4 file uploads, live review, versions, and video collaboration | 4 file uploads, live review, versions, and video collaboration | Productivity tools | Integrated cloud content | | | | Online documents and note taking | | | | Web previews and comments | | | | Plus button | | | | PDF editing | | Advanced editing, includes editing existing text | Advanced editing, includes editing existing text | Annotate and sign PDFs | | | | Image editing | | | | Image search | | | | Full text search | | | | File locking | - | | | Viewer history | - | | | Collaborative sharing | Shared links | | | | Advanced link settings | - | | | Disable downloads | - | | | Custom expiration dates | - | | | Password-protected links | - | | | One-way transfer | File and folder transfer | Deliver up to 50 GB | Deliver up to 100 GB | Deliver up to 100 GB | Incoming transfer requests | | | | Transfer analytics | | | | Custom expiration dates | - | | | Password-protected transfers | - | | | Branded transfers | - | | | eSignature | Unlimited self-signing | | | | Signature requests | 3 per month | 3 per month | 3 per month | Advanced security and privacy | | | | Team management | Admin console | - | | | Multi-team admin login | - | | | Centralized billing | - | | | Company managed groups | - | | | Unlimited API access to security platform partners | - | | | Unlimited API access to productivity platform partners | | | | 1 billion API calls/month for data transport partners | - | | | Tiered admin roles | - | - | | Sign in as user | - | - | | Audit logs with file event tracking | - | - | | Single sign-on (SSO) integrations | - | - | | Invite enforcement | - | - | | Support | Priority email support | | | | Live chat support | | | | Phone support during business hours | - | | | ## Frequently asked questions Which plan is best for me? Plans are designed around how you work. Individual plans are best for one person managing their own files. Team plans are built for work — team-owned content, admin controls, and collaboration across people or clients. We're a very small team (1–2 people). Do we need a team plan? Team plans are designed for team-owned content and admin control. Even very small teams choose team plans if they collaborate regularly, work with clients, or need shared ownership and recovery features. If others only contribute files or access links in limited ways, an individual plan may be enough. Full collaboration requires each person to have their own Dropbox account. What is the difference between team folders and personal folders? Team folders are owned by the team and managed by admins, so work stays with the organization. Personal folders belong to individual users. Both team and personal folders can be shared to collaborate with others while keeping ownership and access clear. Do shared folders count against my team's storage? Shared folders count toward a team's storage only when they're added to the team's Dropbox account — either through direct sharing or by joining a shared folder from a link. Shared links alone don't use storage. Can clients upload files without a Dropbox account? Yes. Teams can collect files from anyone using file request links — even people without Dropbox accounts — while keeping internal files private. Can upload-only users be blocked from seeing other files? Yes. Incoming transfer requests allow people to upload files without seeing anything else in your Dropbox. Each uploader only interacts with their own upload experience. What do the team free trials include, and what happens when they end? Team trials let you explore core collaboration features before committing. You'll be asked to add a payment method to start the trial, and your plan will automatically continue as a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel beforehand. How many users can join a team trial? User limits may apply during trials. You can contact Sales for more options.
